Dr Thirumurthi is a highly experienced medical professional with expertise in nuclear medicine. He has over 40 years of experience in the field. A Graduate of University of Madras (MBBS – 1979), he Completed masters in Nuclear Medicine in 1982 (Masc.) from the National University of Ireland. Before moving to Chennai, he worked as Physician in Nuclear Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital-Dublin, Ireland and at SKIMS, Srinagar, Kashmir. In Chennai he was Consultant in Nuclear Medicine at Apollo Hospital, Malar Hospital and at Madras Medical Mission and now he is the chief of Nuclear Medicine at MGM Healthcare.
He is also an accomplished teacher and researcher in his field. He has published research articles and presented research papers at international and national journals / medical conference. He has contributed a chapter in ‘Principles and Practice of Paediatric Nephrology’ text book. Recently (Dec 2022) he was honoured to give RD Lele Oration at ANMPI meet at Vadodara.
Apart from being a part of the design team in the development of New Gamma Camera – E Cam(Siemens USA), he was also the chair-person for the committee to review of code for practice of Nuclear Medicine in India.
